Darvin Ham Blasts Lakers After Uninspired Loss to Nets: ‘It’s Over for Excuses’ The  Los Angeles Lakers  suffered another tough loss on Friday night, falling to the  Brooklyn Nets , 130–112 at home. The Lakers led the Nets by six at halftime but collapsed in the second half, when Brooklyn outscored them, 68–44. Los Angeles coach Darvin Ham has been facing scrutiny this season, and he expressed his frustration with yet another brutal loss after the game. “That first half is what we’re working toward … and then the inconsistency showed up and reared its head in the second half,” Ham told reporters. “We have to decide which team we’re gonna be.” Then, Ham punctuated his comments by demanding action instead of just words from his players. “It’s over for the excuses,” Ham added. “We got to play basketball.” The Nets bench outscored the Lakers bench, 59–23, including a game-high 33 points from guard Cam Thomas. “You show it on film and address it with the group,” Ham said of his team’s col

Tesla cuts Model Y prices and interest rates

Tesla cuts Model Y prices and interest rates

Tesla has significantly reduced the purchase prices for its Model Y in Germany and lowered the interest rates to zero percent. The new prices and zero interest rates currently only apply to the Model Y - but there is already speculation that the Model 3 could soon also become cheaper.

The basic version with rear-wheel drive of the Model Y now costs 42,990 euros instead of 44,890 euros, i.e. 1,900 less. You can read a driving report on this model with a BYD battery here . The all-wheel drive versions Long Range and Performance are each cheaper by 5,000 euros from 54,990 to 49,990 euros and from 60,990 to 55,990 euros. This means that the most popular Tesla model in Germany has become between four and nine percent cheaper, depending on the drive variant.

There are no changes to the additional chargeable options, from paint to rims and trailer hitch to interior fittings and the autopilot. “Pearl White Multi-Coat” is still the free paint finish in Germany, the basic model and the Long Range have 19-inch rims ex works, the Model Y Performance is equipped with 21-inch wheels.

With the current price reduction, Tesla is following the trend after the end of the environmental bonus at numerous manufacturers. However, the car manufacturers are taking different approaches: some have temporary discount campaigns that are aimed exclusively at private customers who are eligible to apply until the end. However, manufacturers such as BYD and now also Tesla have reduced their list prices - meaning that the affected vehicles are available for an unlimited period of time and are cheaper for all customers (including commercial customers).
Currently, prices have only been adjusted for the bestseller Model Y. However, the prices for the Model 3 Highland have remained the same. This currently means that the basic versions with rear-wheel drive, the Model Y and Model 3, are the same price at 42,990 euros. When it comes to long-range derivatives, the Model 3 is now 2,000 euros more expensive at 51,990 euros than the larger Model Y - there is no longer a performance version (temporarily) since the facelift of the Model 3. The “Heise” portal therefore speculates that the prices for the sedan will soon be adjusted downwards.

Tesla, however, says that in 2024 the global focus will be on “ensuring that Tesla becomes even more accessible to more people.” In addition – as before – “efficiency gains” are cited, which are passed on to customers.
However, not all experts buy Tesla's explanation - and suspect the start of a new price war in Europe. “Tesla’s price reductions are definitely bad news for the entire industry,” the “Handelsblatt” quoted Matthias Schmidt, founder of the industry consultancy Schmidt Automotive, as saying. “There is no doubt that a price war is looming that is similar to the one in China last year.” At that time, Tesla had reduced prices in China several times, sometimes massively, and thus triggered a whole series of further price cuts by other manufacturers.

In addition, Tesla now offers financing at 0.0 percent for all variants of the Model Y in Germany, both for balloon loans and for leasing. However, there is a time limit here: The offer is valid from January 17, 2024 for vehicles that are accepted by customers by March 31, 2024.
This means that customers can probably think about purchasing a new Model Y until the beginning of March: Regardless of the drive, Tesla is currently specifying a delivery time of 2-3 weeks for all Model Ys.
